PSHE & RSE

At The Royal School Wolverhampton, our PSHE curriculum is designed to empower students with the essential life skills they need to thrive as active, responsible members of both British and global society. Through a carefully planned programme, we nurture self-worth, confidence, and independence, helping each student become the very best version of themselves.

Our curriculum supports students in developing into thoughtful, critical thinkers with the knowledge to make informed decisions about their physical, emotional, mental, sexual, and economic wellbeing. It is structured in a spiral approach, allowing key themes to be revisited and explored at age-appropriate stages, promoting continuous personal growth and reflection.

As students navigate a complex and diverse world, they are encouraged to engage respectfully with a range of perspectives, learning to balance personal values with an appreciation of differing beliefs. One part of this is the Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) topic which equips students to recognise and build healthy, respectful relationships and understand appropriate behaviours in a variety of contexts.

Through discussion, collaboration, and real-life scenarios, our PSHE lessons are practical and relevant, helping students prepare for challenges both inside and outside of school. Topics explored throughout the curriculum include:

  • Life Beyond School

  • Rights, Responsibilities & British Values

  • Celebrating Diversity & Equality

  • Relationships and Sex Education (RSE)

  • Staying Safe Online and Offline

  • Health and Wellbeing

Our aim is for every student to leave The Royal School Wolverhampton not only academically accomplished, but also socially responsible, emotionally resilient, and ready to lead safe, confident, and fulfilled lives.

On our policy page, you can find our PSHE Policy and Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) Policy documents. These are regularly reviewed and developed in line with national guidance and statutory requirements. They outline the principles, content, and delivery of our curriculum, ensuring that our approach remains inclusive, age-appropriate, and reflective of current best practice.
