Stanley criteria

Stanley 1

STA Stanley one logo

  1. Enter the water safely
  2. Splash feet at water’s surface holding wall/woggle/assistant and then return to a standing position
  3. Swim forward’s and backward’s through the water aided for 5 metres
  4. Walk forward 2 metres and get back to side
  5. Move through the water for 2 metres on the back, role to regain feet.
  6. Blow a small object across the pool for 2 metres
  7. Travel under a woggle bridge and through a shower created by a watering can
  8. Take part in a teacher led game
  9. Exit pool safely

Stanley 2

  1. Enter the water safely from the poolside
  2. Blow bubbles into the water, with mouth or nose submerged
  3. Swim through the water for 2 metres on the front while blowing bubbles, return to an upright/standing position
  4. Swim through the water for 2 metres on the back (ears in water) return to an upright position standing
  5. Perform a star float on front and back
  6. Use front paddle action to move ball across the pool
  7. Push and glide on the back and front
  8. Roll from front to back, looking at the ceiling
  9. Climb out of the pool safely

Stanley 3

  1. Enter the water from poolside, move forwards 1 metre, then return and exit the pool unassisted
  2. Blow bubbles into the water with nose and mouth
  3. Perform a star float/pencil while on the back and regain the feet
  4. Swim through the water while on the back for 5 metres
  5. Swim through the water on the front for 5 metres
  6. Complete a 360’ turn with feet off the floor
  7. Roll from back to front and return onto the back
  8. Jump into the water from poolside with hand support from teacher
  9. Take part in a teacher led game/song

Stanley 4

  1. Answer 2 questions on poolside safety
  2. Swim 5 metres on front paddle, roll onto back and swim 5 metres on the back
  3. Swim on front and blow bubbles
  4. Pick up an object from the bottom (little pool) (no armbands)
  5. Perform 2 floating positions (star, pencil, mushroom) can be done on front or the back
  6. Push and glide on back, tuck up and finish upright
  7. Swim front/back in a woggle whole width (must be flat in water)
  8. Take part in a teacher led game
  9. Jump into the water (no help)
  10. Climb out of pool safely (no help)

Stanley 5

  1. Answer 2 questions on poolside rules (read pool rules)
  2. Swim 2 metres of front paddle, without aids
  3. Swim 2 metres back paddle, without aids
  4. Hold 3 different types of floating positions, each for 3 seconds (star, pencil, mushroom)
  5. swim and blow rhythmically
  6. Jump in from poolside, turn and swim back
  7. Swim front using 2 floats 1 width
  8. Swim back using 2 floats 1 width
  9. Push and glide on the front (face in water and blowing bubbles)
  10. Push and glide on the back (arms by side)
  11. Pick up a sinker from the little pool
  12. Kick on front 1 width 1 float
  13. Kick on back 2 width 1 float

Stanley 6

  1. Push and glide on front (arms up)
  2. Push and glide on the back (arms up)
  3. Swim through a submerged hoop
  4. Swim 5 metres on front using a breaststroke type kick (woggles on)
  5. Swim 4 metres on the front roll onto back and swim 4 metres to finish width (must be a smooth transition)
  6. Jump into the pool ,tread water then return to the poolside
  7. Swim 5 metres back (arms over)
  8. Swim 5 metres on front (arms over, face in)
  9. Swim on the front, tuck up and return on the back
  10. Attempt a sculling action in a woggle (head or feet first)

Stanley 7

STA Stanley seven logo

  1. Star float, slowly change to a narrow float then return to a star float
  2. Push and glide on front and roll onto back (straight body, arms up)
  3. Push and glide on back then roll onto front (arms straight, straight body)
  4. Swim a width of Dolphin kick
  5. Swim a width front crawl (side breathing)
  6. Swim width on back (flat body)
  7. Swim breaststroke (woggle on) full stroke (feet turned out)
  8. Scull 5 metres head first
  9. Treat water for 10 seconds
